Closer Look: Ox Bow Decor (LDB Interior Textiles)

Laurie Grossman, owner, shares her thoughts.

  • What makes your product line distinctive? "Our designs are unique interpretations of vintage images with a fresh twist to them and every pillow comes with a decorative information tag with history and folklore about the pillow image."
  • What portion is made in the U.S.? "Our pillow line is entirely designed, printed and manufactured in the U.S. Our linen is imported because it is not currently made in the U.S., but our Sunbrella® fabric for outdoor use is manufactured in the U.S."
  • How large is your company? "We employ three people in Weston, MA."
  • What are the advantages of having products made in the U.S.? "Primarily, the lower cost of manufacturing, the quick turn-around in production and the quality. Additionally, we are happy to support the U.S. economy in employing people in this country."

New York - The weather may be cold, but vendors at the Javits Center, Pier 94 and in showrooms around town are offering up a sunny collection of merchandise for spring and summer.

In bedding, elegance and luxury lead the way. Both words are used often to describe 2014 collections, even in identifying lower-priced options with a high-end look. The other buzz word: modern. That means sleeker and sharper looks, even in traditional prints.

Soft home accessories suppliers are playing by their own rules, presenting a buffet of retro-to-contemporary looks in decorative pillows, throws and table linens. One can see parallels in fashion trends, but the strongest common denominator to be found is variety.

In hard bath, products featuring reclaimed materials are as eye-catching as they are environmentally responsible. Repurposing wood from defunct barns or salvaged pipes, as some suppliers are doing, to create caddies, towel bars and toilet paper holders, provides a sense of history and character to otherwise utilitarian items.
